In Rathmell School each child is known individually, personal problems are noticed and discussed with the child and/or parents, depending upon circumstances. Parents are asked to provide school with any information, which they think will help with their child’s welfare.
Rathmell School is committed to ensuring the welfare and safety of all children in school. All North Yorkshire schools, including Rathmell School, follow the North Yorkshire Safeguarding Children Board procedures. The school will, in most circumstances, endeavour to discuss all concerns with parents about their child/ren. However, there may be exceptional circumstances when the school will discuss concerns with Social Care and/or the Police without parental knowledge (in accordance with Child protection procedures). The school will, of course, always aim to maintain a positive relationship with all parents. The school’s child protection policy is available on request.
We promote a healthy lifestyle and encourage children to be active and eat healthy food. Water is available to children. During the school year advice is given to parents and children about protection against exposure to the sun.
The school operates a policy of “No Smoking” on school premises.
The school is part of the North Craven Children’s Centre and signposts parents to the Centre if they request additional support in any area. Catherine Walton is our Parent Support Advisor and can be contacted through the Children’s Centre.
